Congratulations on your assignment to the United States Marine Corps Artillery Detachment, the Corps’ home of field Marine artillery. Since 1952, Fort Sill has been the center of artillery training for both officer and enlisted Marines, and our Marines have established a firm legacy of outstanding academic performance and superb instruction. Not only does the school provide for the educational and professional development of all enlisted Marines, officer, and warrant officer artillerists, we are also deeply connected to the Fleet Marine Force, providing instructional advice, guidance, and updates to doctrine, TTPs and to incorporate lessons learned.
To be sure, we believe in taking care of our people and we see leadership as service to our Marines and sailors as our primary mission as officers and SNCOs. We take great pride in how we receive our newly joined Marines and their families regardless of grade or Military Occupational Specialty. We also take great pride in what we do on a daily basis…from the knowing our jobs, policing and beautification of our areas and workspaces, to the appearance of our Marines, and how we conduct ourselves on liberty, in the field, or in the classroom. Our Marines take a genuine pride look after one another.

Congratulations on selection to resident PME! The MarDet S-1 will be your one-stop shop for most check-in items, including travel/TMO. Our S-1 is more like a mini IPAC, so they can fix a lot of issues for you. The Marine Corps Cannon Crewman Course is five weeks, 25 training days. Designed to train entry level Marines to standard in 1000 level tasks (Cannoneer), and familiarizes them with select 2000 level tasks (Gunner/A-Gunner), in accordance with NAVMC 3500.7, Artillery Training and Readiness Manual.
The Marine Corps HIMARS Crewman Course is two and a half weeks, 13 training days. This is a follow on course to train 0811s to standard in 1000 level tasks (HIMARS Crewman), and familiarizes them with select 2000 level tasks (HIMARS Gunner), in accordance with NAVMC 3500.7, Artillery Training and Readiness Manual. Select cannoneers may earn the MOS designator 0814 upon completion of this course to serve with either HIMARS battalion, 5th Bn, 11th Marines or 2nd Bn, 14th Marines.
The Marine Corps Cannon Crewman Advanced Course is six weeks, 27 training days. This course is designed to train senior cannoneers in the grades of Staff Sergeant through Master Gunnery Sergeant in accordance with NAVMC 3500.7, Artillery Training and Readiness Manual. Prior to attending this course, the student must present the completed MCCCAC Command Screening checklist upon check in.
